Feeling Better with Plants

With House of Hens and Grit Founder, Adrianne Hunt

These days, people are starting to question:

  • If the side effects of some prescription medications are more harmful than what they’re worth

  • If the drugs they are taking are the best solution

  • What it is that the pharmaceutical industry isn’t telling them

  • If there’s anything they can be doing for themselves to regain their health, and keep their families from getting sick in the first place

  • If the choices they make for themselves are the best choices to be making for their children as well

More and more, people are looking for better options.

Of course, when it comes to knowledge about how to take care of yourself, or even how to feel better naturally, it would seem there are interest groups that don’t want people getting access to this kind of wisdom. It appears that the information being broadcasted through mainstream media is not as balanced as it should, or could be.

It feels like we’re supposed to believe that plants aren’t strong or effective. But it’s just not true.

The teachers I’ve met showed me ways of working with plants that few people ever get access to. And I realized, going this path of studying herbs and sharing them others would allow me to not just become more  knowledgeable in the field of herbalism, but also connect with a piece of my heritage and ancestry. I have experienced incredible outcomes for myself and my family by studying and practicing herbalism in our everyday life.

When I started sharing plant extracts, people started asking for more, and telling me how it helped them.

The House of Hens and Grit is what I call my business today. It’s all about giving people access to the power of herbal plant supplements and talking about the techniques and approaches that I’ve learned from my various apprenticeships and mentors along the way. Whether you’ve been following along on Instagram, or you’re just meeting me for the first time here on my website, I’m glad you’re here and happy to invite you to read about from what I have to offer.

Why We’re Different

How We Make Our Simple Fresh Plant Extracts

What sets us apart from other herbal makers is our commitment to using freshly harvested plants that grow abundantly in our region. Not only do we use fresh plant material only, but our extracts steep for at least eight weeks. This is small batch herbal extracts at its best. It’s slow, it’s honest. Most of the medicinal plants we use in our extracts were started from seed by my own hands. I tend these plants everyday, and my relationship to them is carried into each part of the herbal extract making process and into the homes of the wonderful people who use our products.

What People Are Saying

“I’m still learning things when it comes to natural stuff and I’ve made lots of big mistakes. I’ve taken other products that have made me feel horrible. I feel like I can’t make a mistake with Hens and Grit. I know Adrianne’s products and I love how my body responds to them.”

— Natalie, Oregon

“I love how Adrianne is very transparent about her products. You can tell it comes from her heart. That’s her life. It’s not a business to her, even though it is. It’s her lifestyle. it’s what she breathes and lives everyday.”

— Marjorie Allen, California

“My boys chose this year to get the flu (a couple of times, strep throat too) and man it was crazy. So I started taking Adrianne’s Elder Berry Extract. I couldn’t get the boys to take it, but I love it for me since I can’t get sick and be down and out. I started taking it as soon as cold or flu like symptoms started—and it was great. I didn’t get sick. My husband was a baby and didn’t take it and he got sick.”

About Adrianne

If ever anyone would ask me how I became an expert on feeling better naturally, my answer quite likely would be this: you never stop learning, and you never stop focusing on people who know more than you do, so you never even think about calling yourself an expert.

“Just message Adrianne, she can help you."

Growing up, I had a little bit of the natural remedy approach, but when I met Adrianne, this whole new world opened up. Now, I use her products for everything. And, I’m even reading ingredients more with everything I use, especially with things I put on my body. I don’t want to put just any stuff on me.

I’m a lazy person, so I love that Adrianne does the research and shares all the info for me on Instagram. I can message her anytime I have a question (what’s good for this?) and she’s so easy to talk with, not judgmental at all. I’ve never even had any side effects to anything. Neither do my boys. So, just message Adrianne, she can help you. She’s an encyclopedia of plant knowledge (and she’s got the most beautiful children, too!).”

Kids love us too…

“My baby had a bite on her face, and she was having a bad reaction to it. I tried lavender essential oil and that made it worse, but then I remembered I had Adrianne’s woundwort roll on in the cabinet, which was so easy to put on her. Effective, yet gentle. And, my baby just laid back and let me roll it all over her bites. Baby spa moment! She usually would never let me do something like that, but she loved the roll-on.

Between that and Adrianne’s comfrey salve, the swelling and redness went away overnight. And I didn’t even have to go get Benadryl from the store.

As a parent I really appreciate the way Adrianne makes medicines that are specifically safe for children, but then she also has something for everyone.”
