Motherwort is incredibly easy to grow. She’s a perennial, so with the proper care she’ll come back year after year to bless your garden space with her calming and protective presence. Motherwort is a nervine, sedative, and cardiac tonic. One large motherwort plant can easily provide a family with a year worth of extract. We extract the entire plant while in flower.

The process is simple: take fresh plant material, chop it up, fill a clean glass jar and pour hundred proof vodka on top. Seal and label the jar and in eight weeks or more your medicinal extract is ready to strain the plant material, bottle and consume.

The botanical name of motherwort is Leonardis cardiaca. The lionhearted. Mother wort. Wart simply means weed. This is the Mother’s Weed and I believe it can benefit every mother. Our Motherwort Extract lowers blood pressure and rebuilds capillaries around the heart, thus toning the entire cardiac system.

Motherwort is for the woman who’s struggling to control her emotions. She’s nervous, fearful, pale and clammy. She’s afraid of what’s coming next. Motherwort takes our energy from overthinking and circling around our brain and pulls it down into our heart and our solar plexus, allowing us to make better decisions and move forward from our center, from our hearts, rather than a place of fear. Motherwort helps women stay strong for their families for themselves she helps us go forward in the face of fear-fear of injury, fear of illness, fear of failure or not being good enough, watching her children fall ill or be bullied. It’s not easy on a mother’s tender heart. Motherwort pulls us through. She mothers the mother. Motherwort makes us lionhearted.

I believe it would benefit all mothers to have at least one plants growing nearby the home. She grows up tall and straight. Her stock resembles a spine with thorns protecting delicate purple flowers. Isn’t this the way of the mother? Open, vulnerable, soft and compassionate, loving energy protected by thorns. Do not cross the mother. She is the fiercest creature in the wilderness and motherwort helps us own it, and embody the archetypal mother.

Our Motherwort Extract is made with loving care. This is a plant near and dear to my heart and I share her medicine with a Lion’s pride. Motherwort is primarily viewed as a cardiac tonic. Regular consumption of our motherwort extract will help your body build and strengthen the capillaries around your heart. She’ll decrease your chances of having a heart attack while repairing the negative affects of stress and heartache on the body. It is my opinion that there is no better remedy for anxiety than our Motherwort Extract. This is not a plant that is just for women. Men and women equally benefit when regularly consuming our Motherwort Extract.
